Haiti recovery progress ‘disappointing’ two years after earthquake: Ottawa

After powerful earthquake in Haiti the Canadian government was reconstructing it for two years and in the end was disappointed. International Co-operation, Minister Bev Oda said what you can see signs of progress. She also said what mostly, disappointment called by big expectations. "The 7.0-magnitude quake killed more than 200,000 people, injured 300,000 and left 1.5 million Haitians homeless". Some of the things that slowed the reconstruction were months-long political crisis and an ongoing cholera epidemic that had struck 520,000 people and killed 7,000 by mid-December. "Today, some 500,000 people still live in the squalor and dangers of the encampments — a figure that does represent some improvement. One million were living in tents last year, on the first anniversary of the earthquake." Things become better since Haiti received a billions of dollars as an intonational aid. Five millions cubic meters have been removed according to United Nations Development Programme. They did it also to create more jobs, because of big percent of unemployment (about 60%). Now, where is a lot of projects were created to help Haiti recover faster.

Haiti needs help and it is good to know what where is some organisation like UN gives it. Of course some things did not work, but where is a lot of other projects to give new homes for people.

Jury verdicts raise question: Has become acceptable for ‘bad people’ to be killed?

For less then two weeks, two juries in Toronto found not guilt people who admired their crime. All victims were commune in crime or suspected in crime and had frequent run-ins with the law.Melissa Lewis, 26 years old, stubbed her boyfriend's neck, Jermaine Gillespie, while he was driving his car and she was in the back seat. "The trial was filled with evidence that Gillespie, 25, was an abusive hot-head who often carried a gun and was screaming “Ho’s pay me” to have sex when Lewis thrust the 30 centimetre knife into his neck." Lewis said that it was self-defence. She became free less then 24 hours. “I do not think the character of a victim of crime should be relevant to whether the accused should be punished — but it often is,” law professor James Morton wrote on his blog after Melissa Lewis walked free. Another event happened in late Thursday night. 33 years old Kenya Smith free after a day and a half of deliberations. He shoot 27 years old Andrew Moore. Juries had some information that he shoot police officer in 2001. "Though never charged, police believe Moore did shoot Const. Tony Macias. That was ruled inadmissible during the trial." The police of Toronto announced information that Moore's brother, Mark, was arrested because of four counts of first-degree murder. His mother was also arrested, because supported them after the fact of murder. Also, Det. Sgt. Stacy Gallant visited Toronto's down town on Friday and found Moore's clothes in his banker boxes, which was all in blood. Gallant said that "murder trails have become too complicated for 12 lay people.", that's why it is hard for them to come up with proper verdict. In other hand, Morton has heard that before. He wrote in email that it was always hard to come up with right decision and now it is supposed to be easer, because juries more educated then 20 years ago. "Morton recalls a lawyer telling him: 'I couldn’t prove he didn’t shoot him but I could prove he deserved to be shot.' Evidence that a victim 'was a bad person should be limited to showing that, say, the accused had a legitimate fear and so self-defence applies,' added the former Ontario Bar Association president.'But sometimes the evidence goes further and is taken, inappropriately, to say the deceased’s death should not be punished.' " Thanks "The Toronto Star" for information.http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/article/1077817--jury-verdicts-raise-question-has-become-acceptable-for-bad-people-to-be-killed

Nowadays, our world and societies are "rotten". The good prove of it is reports from news about new murder or rapist. People trying to find the easy way to get money or just do it for, because they want to. I am totally agree with juries decisions. I think such people like murders, extortionists or people who hurt innocent people do not deserve right to live. I am glad that in our time of "if it is not hurt me I do not care" juries still can make right decisions and I hope this events will be a good lesson for all other criminals.

McGuinty appeals to Tories and NDP to make House work better

Leader of Liberal party Premier Dalton McGuinty started new project “parliamentary liaison group” for better work in team between Liberal, Progressive Conservative and NDP. In the letter to leaders of the Progressive Conservative and NDP party's, Premier McGuinty called his rivals work together for good of Ontario. “I have created a parliamentary liaison group within the government to work with your parties to ensure the Legislature is working for Ontarians,” said McGuinty. Sources say that former PC premier, Bill Davis, predicted victory of McGuinty on elections. McGuinty quickly embraced recommendation of his mentor, Davis, even if they have differences with Liberal policy. “While the House leaders will meet regularly to discuss the day-to-day operations of the Legislature, the parliamentary liaison group will meet weekly during legislative sittings to discuss broader ideas that will help make our Legislature work,” McGuinty wrote. Represent Liberal party on the panel will be Government House Leader John Milloy, Chief Government Whip Jeff Leal, Deputy Whip Madeleine Meilleur, and Deputy House Leader Jim Bradley. Jim Wilson, the leader of PC party, said that would also found four new members. He also said that every-day-meetings it is good idea. He also said that such meeting will be useful for discussion of important questions. The leader of NDP,Andrea Horwath, also agreed with it. Horwath said that it is time to show people how they "moved forward as leaders". "After the Oct. 6 election, the Liberals have 53 seats, the Tories 37, and the NDP 17 in the 107-member Legislature." Thanks "The Toronto Star" for information.

I think this new project very good method of solving controversy between parties. It also will help improve situation in Ontario in general, but I think it will be hard to find decision that will please not only two other parties which is not in power, but also majority of people.

Earthquake in Turkey.

Right after building in Turkey was ruined, after 7.2-magnitude earthquake panic and horror filled in the air. Peoples was trying to call their realities by cellphone. At least 88 people was killing. People who survived was trying to rescue tapped and injured by shovels or even hands. Ercis, an eastern city of 75,000 close to the Iranian border was in worst condition. Van's city airport and highway also were damage. TRT television report that 59 people were killed and 150 injured in Erics. Other 25 died in Van and three people and child died in the nearby province of Bitlis. Also, at least nine people were pulled out of the debris alive. 80 building were collapsed in Ercis and 10 buildings in Van, the Turkish Red Crescent said. Government advised people stay away form collapsed houses, because they can collapse again in aftershocks. More then 100 aftershocks were recorded in eastern Turkey. Citizens from Erics and Van prepared themselves to spend night on the street and lit the campfires, while Red Crescent began setting up tents in a stadium. Ercis, heavy machinery stopped working, so people were ordered to be quiet, while rescue team tried to listen for possible survivors in collapsed buildings. "Some inmates escaped a prison in Van after one of its walls collapsed." The legislator from Van, Nazumi Gur was on funeral ceremony of his nephew’s then earthquake started, so he rushed back to help. Right now they do not have electricity and heating, so everyone who outside in the cold. Right now, government do not have any information about small villages. "The earthquake also shook buildings in neighbouring Armenia and Iran." Such earthquake it is not first in Turkey, because it respond on most active seismic zones. "In 1999, two earthquakes with a magnitude of more than 7.0 struck northwestern Turkey, killing about 18,000 people." Thanks "Toronto Star" for information.

This even shocked not only Turkey and it's neighbours, but also the rest countries of the world. It is hard to imagine that chaos in Turkey right now. People need help and I hope government will give it. I also hope that other, more developed countries will give a hand to Turkey in this hard times. It is not first big earthquake in this year. I remembered disaster in Japan then after tsunami and earthquake the atomic station was damaged and radiation expelled throughout country. I hope disaster in Turkey would not so strong.

New iPhone breaks pre-order record.

Apple announced it's new iPhone recently. New "creature" of Apple, called iPhone 4S, has new software and a faster chip, still it looks like it's "older brother" iPhone 4. Some iPhone fans was unpleased after new iPhone was announced, because it was designed like "old" iPhone 4. Still, more then 1 million people pre-ordered iPhone 4S right in the first day. It is surpassed previous first-day-record in 600,000 of iPhone 4 in last year. Analysts think that some people could buy new iPhone to "commemorate the technology industry icon" Steve Jobs, who died few days earlier. The company which have right to sell Apple production in U.S. said that new iPhone 4S it is most successful of all iPhones ever. They sold more then 200,000 phones only in the first 12 hours. "Soon, new iPhone will be available in 22 countries by the end of October," Apple said.
Thanks "Toronto Star" for information.

All of us waited this event and I am not exception and the numbers of customers are great prove of it. I am glade that new iPhone was designed like iPhone 4, because I really like it. I am also totally agree with annalists, because the fact that iPhone 4S it is last creature of Steve Jobs, certainly make people more interested to by it. Still, I do not think that it is not right or something, because Steve Jobs was really great person and his devises are new step in the technology evolution.

Ontario Election Debate 2011

In September 2011 were Ontario election debate. In this debate were involved three parties. Each party present it’s leader. From NDP party-Andrea Horwath; from liberals was Dalton McGinty and Tim Hudak from Progressive Conservatives party. On of questions on this debate was question about healthcare. All party leaders agreed that present healthcare is not perfect and it needs improvement, but each party offers its way of solving of problem. The leader of NDP, Andrea Horwath, holding position of rise of CDO's salaries." I do believe that we need to cup the salaries of CDOs in hospitals". The leader of liberals David McGinty offer his new program to improve healthcare system. Also leader of Conservative party Tim Hudak said that his policy including invest 3.1 billion $ to improve healthcare and create more workplaces for nurses and doctors. Both Mrs. Horwath and Mr. Hudak gave their personal examples of imperfect healthcare system Mrs. Horwath told us story about her son and Mr. Hudak about his daughter. Thanks YouTube for information and video.

This debate was really interesting for me, because I learned more about Canada from. But I am one more time convinced in one thing: I hate policy. The reason why I hate policy it is because it is a lot of phony people there(if not all). For example, on this debating Mrs. Horwath was showing herself to us like a mother. She always told about how it is "hard our kids today" because of bad healthcare or something else. Also, she always told "I am a mother" or "I can understand, because I have a child" thereby getting more and more support of women. The rest of the debate was not so bad. Usually Mr. McGinty was saying what he did and Mr. Hudak that he didn't. One I can say for sure: both, Mr. McGinty and Mr. Hudak, have similar plans to improve healthcare.

Parkinson disaise.

Usually, Parkinson disease starts after 50 years, and, unfortunately, most common disease of nervous system in this age. Sometimes young people can be sick too, but usually it is because Parkinson disease rum in family. It affects both men and women. Also, children can have Parkinson disease, because of non-sensitive to dopamine. Fortunately, this disease is rare in children. To control muscle movements our nerve cells use chemical in our brain called “dopamine”. The Parkinson disease is actually slowly destroying these cells, so we can’t control our body anymore because our brain does not receiving messages from our nerve system. The situation gets worse with time. Exactly reason why these brain cells waste away is still unknown. The term "parkinsonism" refers to any condition that involves the types of movement changes seen in Parkinson's disease. Parkinsonism can also be caused by some medications. Thanks “The New York Time” for information.

http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/disease/parkinsons-disease/overview.html

I am convinced how complex our organism one more time. I mean, because of lack only one chemical in our brain we can get this disease. This is showing us how important every element in our body. I am pretty sure that humanity still does not know all disease, just like about our organism. Parkinson disease is one more example of this. After this article I found one very impressing movie called “Awakenings”. It is very sad story about patients who have Parkinson disease. I am very advising you to watch this movie. This is a trailer of this movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FURflBxeTyI .
